Sondrestrom Lidar Operation Log

Operator(s) : E.Guðmundsson, T.Jørgensen, J.Jørgensen
Purpose : Routine data collection

Comments : Run summary:
Nice skies at startunp and good data comming in. Due to work done on the
temperature regulation earlier during today, there were some temperature
problems at the beginningn of the run. We started the run with a bit to high a
tempereture. The temperature converged at the setpoint in a matter of an hour
or
two.

A double file increment at 01:15, file L0103100 does not exsits!

Nice data troughout the run.

On the morning side of the run, towards the end, operator started seeing someting
that resembled the sloping background problem we had some time ago. It turned
out
not to be a problem. The explanation to this was a very high noise signal due to
hgih SZA causing the signal to become corrupted.

L10310313:42:11Incremented, shut the Rayleigh laser down, I think we may 191760EG
have a problem on our hands!! Sloping noise background.19176
I does not seem to be laser induced. Perhaps this has to do 19176
the super heavy background counts I'm seeing .19176
L10310414:05:28Turning of the chopper and leaving it in open mode while0EG
using the line a clock. This should reveal if the chopper
is involved in this!
L10310414:15:22The chopper is no longer running and the blade is in the116560EG

L10310414:55:43OK, It looks like I was crying woolf, By attenuation the0EG
there is no apparent modulation in the background.
