L20080229_00023:20:45Start of experiment0cp
L20080229_00023:20:49Will get the beam image various places in the RX path.0cp
Therefore no data will be acquired the first 4 hrs.
L20080229_00003:51:51Starting daq. on rayleigh channel.0cp
L20080304_00004:16:02Will remove chopper for a second. Need to visualize beam 0cp
image in chopper plane.412
L20080304_00005:32:08After a great deal of tweaking with Eggert. There will be0cp
a couple of hours of uninterupted daq.
Aligment of RX path was not optimized and time
has been spent on getting the focal point right.
The image of the laser beam through the chopper plane is
clear and in focus, although rather small to see without
a magnifying lens. The beam image being a "Triangle" with
the tip (High alt.) pointing towards the breadboard and the
bottom (Low alt.) pointing away from the breadboard.
The chopper unfortunately is spinning ccw, so that it is
cutting the beam in the same direction as the propagation
of the LASER light. Need some real estate to swap the chopper
Also tried to slide the chopper today with the improved
focal point. However it not affect the PMT profile much and
it did not have any affect on the low alt. return of the profile.

L20080304_00005:51:47So today it has been verified visually that the LASER beam image0cp
is perpendicular to the radian from the rotation axis of the
chopper blade to the focal point of the optical path.
However, the low alt. "bump" in the 532nm profile is still
there. Next experiment will be to see the effect of the
chopper blade cutting through the image cw. That is flipping
the chopper. That requires disassembly of part of the RX 607
path.
L20080304_00006:00:32Looks like a haze layer.1920cp
L20080304_00006:01:25Will take down the LASER for a power meassurement.2000cp
L20080304_00006:06:06LASER is up again.1130cp
L20080304_00006:07:03It is easy now to find a setup without afterpulsing.0cp
The alignment work with Eggert is the reason.
L20080304_00106:59:06There is slow changing parameter in the RX path that 0cp
screws up the convergence (Alignment) Now it is almost
impossible to reduce the low alt. return in the profile.
Anyway it is getting late and the experiment will be ended
now. Will have to look at it again tomorrow.
L20080304_00107:01:38End of experiment0cp
