Sondrestrom Lidar Operation Log

Operator(s) : Christian Have Pedersen
Purpose : Measurement of chopper behaviour using daylight.
Date(s) : 070323 - 070323
File(s) : L20070323_001 - L20070323_002
Comments : The chopper delays have been verified using daylight. IR chopper delay adjusted,
since it was opening a bit too late. Rayleigh and Raman+Na chopper.

L20070323_00116:23:18Start of experiment0cp
L20070323_00216:34:46Using daylight to measure chopper behaviour.0cp
Configuration is the same as last experiment.
Rayleigh is attenuated 20dB. Na is attenuated 26 dB-1387
L20070323_00216:37:14As expected the rayleigh chopper is open at around0cp
30-40 km alt.
In the Raman+Na profile it can be seen that for the chopper
is open at aprox. 420-430 km alt. Which is fine, since the
Na part of the combined profile starts at 405km
(10Hz trig. is delayed 2.7ms with respect to 30Hz trig, which
is 405km in alt.). And usual the Na chopper opens at a lower
alt. compared to Rayleigh chopper.
For the Raman part of the combined profile the chopper is
open from 0 alt to about 90 km alt.
L20070323_00216:52:59Closing down Rayleigh and Na channel for now. Will do the0cp
chopper measurements on the IR channel.
L20070323_00217:16:20Just adjusted the IR chopper, so now it is fully open at 0 km alt.0cp
In last experiment the IR chopper was opening at 0-20km alt
L20070323_00217:19:22Ending experiment. These data are comparable to the data 0cp
in the last experimnet, since the configuration of the RX
path and the chopper delays are the same.
