Sondrestrom Lidar Operation Log

Operator(s) : J.Jørgensen, E.Gudmundsson
Purpose : Routine Data Collection
Date(s) : 981122 - 981123
File(s) : L9811220 - L9811230
Comments : There were problems with the dye laser in the first part of the run. It looked like
the sine drive mecanism was stuck. Reebooted the computer and taped the sine
drive while it was starting. This seemed to do the job. Started getting good sodium
data around 01:01 UT.

Rayleigh counts abnormaly low. Laser energy has probably been around 500mJ
troughout the run. I feel this does not explain the low counts. Maybe
atmosphere has something to do with it. The sodium data might give a hint.
Some haze came and went every once in a while.
